About Sherri Lightner
For more than a decade, Sherri Lightner has been a tireless and effective community volunteer and leader, serving on multiple community planning organizations and committees. She has served as President of both the La Jolla Town Council (LJTC) and La Jolla Shores Association (LJSA), and as the Secretary of the La Jolla Community Planning Association (LJCPA). Over the years Sherri has become a knowledgeable expert in the planning and development process, the application (and abuse) of the San Diego Land Development Code, the applicable sections of the San Diego Municipal Code relating to community planning and development, and the California Environmental Quality and Coastal Acts.
Sherri was born in Western Pennsylvania but moved with her family to San Diego while in grade school. After attending public school in San Diego, Sherri graduated from the University of California at San Diego (UCSD), first with a B.A. degree in both Mathematics and Sociology and later with a M.S. degree in Applied Mechanics and Engineering Sciences.
She and her husband have owned and lived in the same home in Council District 1 (La Jolla Shores) for over 16 years. Before moving to La Jolla the Lightners were homeowners and residents of Scripps Ranch for 17 years. After "retiring" from the engineering profession about 10 years ago, Sherri's community planning community service work went from part-time avocation to a virtually full-time volunteer effort.
We Need Your Help
The time has come to help Sherri take the next step and bring her expertise to bear on issues that affect all of the residents of the City of San Diego. The time is past due for a new, reform-minded City Council that will take action and stop making excuses for decisions that have literally cost taxpayers what is quickly approaching over a billion dollars. The legacy left to our children by the "politics as usual" in City Hall is going to be a costly one. It's time to elect council members into office with integrity, intelligence, common-sense, and a commitment to fair and open local government. Sherri Lightner is the perfect candidate!

San Diego City Council District One includes the communities of Carmel Valley, Del Mar Heights, the North City Future Urbanizing Area (Black Mountain Ranch, Del Mar Mesa, Pacific Highlands Ranch, Torrey Highlands), most of La Jolla and Bird Rock, Rancho Peñasquitos, Rose Canyon, lower San Dieguito River Valley, Sorrento Hills, Sorrento Valley, Torrey Hills, Torrey Pines, University City, and UCSD.
